How do powder brows differ from Microblading and Nano Brows?

Powder brows, microblading and nano brows are both cosmetic tattoo techniques, but they differ in the way they achieve their results.

Microblading involves using a handheld tool with a group of tiny needles to create hair-like strokes on the skin, mimicking the appearance of natural eyebrow hairs. The result is a more defined, precise brow with individual hair-like strokes.

On the other hand, powder brows involve creating a soft, powdered effect by depositing pigment into the skin in a stippling motion. This technique results in a more natural-looking brow, without the individual hair strokes.

While both techniques can produce beautiful results, powder brows may be considered better than microblading for a few reasons:

  1. Longer lasting: Powder brows can last up to two to three years, while microblading typically lasts between 6-18 months.

  2. Better for oily or sensitive skin: Microblading is not recommended for oily or sensitive skin types, as the technique can cause irritation and the pigment may not hold as well. Powder brows are a better option for those with oily or sensitive skin, as the technique is gentler and the pigment is deposited more shallowly.

  3. More versatile: Powder brows are more versatile than microblading, as the technique can be customized to achieve a range of styles and densities, from a soft, natural look to a more dramatic, filled-in brow.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Nano Brows is a unique form of hair stroke eyebrow tattooing that is used to add more density to existing eyebrows or to give the appearance of natural brows. The technique requires two appointments to complete and uses a specialized machine with a single nanoneedle to implant pigment into the skin, forming tiny pixels that connect together and mimic real hair strokes. Unlike microblading, NANO is done using one needle rather than multiple needles which creates a more delicate feathery look. The pigment is implanted into the dermal junction so it will fade over time yet still appear natural looking.

  • Nano Brows have quickly become the most sought-after brow procedure due to their ability to provide stunning results in a more gentle way, with less risk of scarring involved. Nano is an ideal choice for those with oilier, combination skin as well as those with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick 5 & 6) that often do not heal as well through microblading alone. Additionally, nano brows are much less painful and involve no bleeding, while still achieving natural-looking hairlike strokes that last longer than traditional microblading.

  • When getting your brows done with Nano Brows, some discomfort is to be expected, but it is usually quite minimal. It is less painful than microblading because raher than cutting the skin, our specialized machine uses a single needle that quickly enters and exits the skin, creating connective pixels to make each hair stroke. To help reduce pain even further, a topical anesthetic is used. Some clients even fall asleep during their appointment!

  • Nano brows typically have a lifespan of up to two years but may need touching up around the 18-month mark in order to preserve their appearance. Keep in mind sun exposure, skincare products and skin type also effect the longevity of the result.

  • No. Nano Brows does not cause any further damage to the skin or future hair loss when done by a qualified professional.

  • Creating your dream eyebrows is a two-part journey - an initial appointment and a follow-up or perfecting session 8-12 weeks later. The first session of Nano Brows is $550. The second session, which is the prefecting session is $150. After the perfecting session, you can expect your newly shaped brows to last anywhere from 1.5 to 2 years!

  • Are touchups necessary for a brow procedure? Absolutely! After your initial session of nano brows, you will come back in 8-12 weeks later for a touchup. This is where we assess how the pigment has taken and any fading since the first session. Touchups allow us to make adjustments to the shape, size, and color of your brows to achieve the desired look. We can also add depth, or recreate strokes that have faded away. If you don't get your follow-up appointment, your brows could fade faster than anticipated, so it is advisable to book this session to ensure the longevity of the results.

  • Aftercare for your brows is of utmost importance to ensure the best results. Directly following your procedure, avoid the followings:

    - excessive sweating for 2 weeks

    - makeup on the brows or facial treatments for 2 weeks

    - botox for 2 weeks

    - laser treatments, chemical peels, and microneedling for 30 days

For long-term care, make sure to protect your brows from direct sunlight with an SPF.
